The Dalgado Konknni Akademi is set to host the 8th Konkani (Romi Lipi) Writers’ Conference on January 12, at Fr. Agnel College of Arts and Commerce in Pilar. The conference will run from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature two sessions.
Director of the Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr in Porvorim, Pandurang Phaldesai, will be the chief guest for the inaugural session. The concluding session will be honoured by parish priest of Our Lady of Amparo Church, Mandur, and writer, Fr. Manuel Gomes.
Joint director of Accounts, South Goa, in the Directorate of Accounts, Victorino Salvador Colasso, will preside over the conference. Colasso is known for his contributions to Konkani literature, particularly through his articles, poems, and theatrical works, including tiatrs and one-act plays.
The first session will explore various literary genres, with presentations by Vincy Quadros, Fr. Luis Gomes, and Denis Vaz. Tomazinho Cardozo will moderate, followed by a Q&A session featuring panelists Glenis Mendonca, Fr. Roman Rodrigues, and Anthony Menezes.
The second session will focus on children’s literature, with presentations by Fr. Jose Silveira and Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto. Fausto V. Da Costa will moderate this session. The Q &A session will have panelists Menino Almeida, Vishal Khandeparkar, and Sensico Dias.
