The government notified the Goa Factories (Seventeenth Amendment) Rules, 2024, on Thursday, laying down the new scale of licence fees applicable to factories as well as the new fee structure for changes in the factory name, among others.

The annual licence fees this year on an average are about 25 per cent higher than in 2023, and based on the number of workers employed and the power consumption of a factory.

It ranges between Rs 630 to Rs 85,800 per year for factories with maximum installed capacity of 10 HP, and employing between nine and above 4,000 workers. For factories with installed capacity between 10 and 50 HP, the licence fee ranges between Rs 840 and Rs 94,600.

The new fee structure is in force with immediate effect, states the notification signed by Chief Inspector of Factories and Boilers Anant Pangam.

It also mentions that starting from January 1, 2026, the factory licence fee will be increased by 5 per cent every year with the hike coming in force from the beginning of the year.
