Fatorda

FC Goa will take on Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, today at 7.30 p.m.

Currently sitting second on the table with 30 points from 16 matches, the Gaurs are looking to build on their solid form, having won three of their last five games. They’re seven points behind league leaders Mohun Bagan Super Giant (37 points from 17 games). With Jamshedpur FC’s loss to Hyderabad FC on Thursday, FC Goa has some breathing space in second place, but a win here would strengthen their grip and keep the pressure on the top spot.

Chennaiyin FC, on the other hand, are struggling in 10th place with 18 points from 17 games. They’re seven points behind sixth-placed Odisha FC (24 points) and have been in poor form lately, drawing three and losing two of their last five matches. Owen Coyle’s side is desperate to turn things around, with their playoff hopes starting to slip.

FC Goa will rely on Brison Fernandes, who is in red-hot form with six goals, to lead the charge. Fernandes is one of only two Indians in the top-10 goal-scorers this season, alongside Sunil Chhetri (11). The Gaurs have been a potent attacking force, netting 30 goals so far, with Armando Sadiku (9) and Borja Herrera (4) also making significant contributions.

Chennaiyin FC, with 23 goals this season, will look to Wilmar Jordan Gil (8) to provide the spark in attack. However, FC Goa have been much more solid at the back, conceding just 20 goals compared to Chennaiyin’s 27. The Gaurs have also been in strong defensive form, having kept just two goals out in their last three matches.

With a strong mix of attacking prowess and defensive discipline, FC Goa will look to keep their unbeaten run intact and continue their push toward the top of the ISL table.
