Haridwar: Ayurveda is not just a means of livelihood or sustenance but a way to repay the debt of our sages, Patanjali University Vice Chancellor Acharya Balkrishna has said.

Acharya said Ayurveda should be visible in one’s behaviour, conduct, nature and life. “You should not hesitate to call yourself a vaidya, but should feel proud to be one. Capability of Ayurveda is very wide,” he said.

Acharya was speaking as chief guest at the closing ceremony of a six-day residential training programme ‘Charakayatan’ held recently. The programme was conducted for Ayurveda teachers and postgraduate and graduate students of Ayurveda under the aegis of Patanjali Ayurveda college.

Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of AYUSH, had organised the training programme.

Acharya said the main objective of the ‘Charakayatan’ programme was to impart authentic clinical knowledge of Charaka Samhita and relevance of the practice to the students and to develop the skill of learning and teaching Charaka Samhita.

Addressing the students, he said, “We are fortunate to have got the opportunity to be associated with Ayurveda.”
