Challenger SC secured a convincing 40-run victory over Shirgao SC in their GCA Division A North Zone encounter at Panjim Gymkhana on Wednesday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Challenger SC put up a competitive 229/7 in 42 overs, courtesy of a stellar 82-run knock from Aman Dhooper. He found solid support from Mihir Kudalkar (45) and Sarthak Bhike (44), who kept the scoreboard ticking. Shirgao’s bowlers had their moments, with Divyesh Ghadi (2/28) leading the attack, while Sagar Kore (1/26) and Govind Ghadi (1/36) chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.

In response, Shirgao SC struggled to build partnerships despite a valiant 69 from Sagar Kore. Govind Ghadi’s 33 provided some resistance, but the rest of the batting lineup faltered under Challenger’s disciplined bowling. Tejas Palkar ran through the opposition, claiming 4/39, while Tanesh Tendulkar (3/37) and Shivam Singh (1/14) ensured Shirgao was bowled out for 189 in 31.5 overs.
