13th Pratidhwani Classical Music Festival on March 9

The 13th edition of the Pratidhwani Classical Music Festival will be held on March 9, 9 a.m. at the Multipurpose Hall of Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce, Pernem. Organised by Swastik Cultural Association, Panaji, in association with Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College, the festival is dedicated to the memory of the late Francis Rodrigues, Goa’s only Catholic Hindustani classical vocalist.

The festival will feature performances by various artistes from Goa who will pay tribute to Francis through their performances. As per tradition, a felicitation ceremony will be held in honour of his mother, Cristaline Rodrigues, who will also receive financial assistance.

The festival will begin with a tabla duet by Anish and Atharva Gadgil from Valpoi, accompanied by Vasant Gaonkar on harmonium. This will be followed by a brief inaugural ceremony, during which Cristaline Rodrigues will be honoured.

Following this, there will be a performance by Omkar Shetgaonkar, a student of Sanjeevan Music Academy, who will be accompanied by Satish Naik (tabla), Prasad Gawas (harmonium), and Wasim Khan (sarangi). Subhash Parwar will conclude the morning session with a vocal recital, supported by Sanket Khalap (tabla), Gopal Prabhu (harmonium), and Wasim Khan (sarangi).

The evening session will begin at 4 p.m. with a classical vocal recital by Siya Pai, a student of Sanjeevan Music Academy, accompanied by Rohidas Parab (tabla), Vasant Gaonkar (harmonium), and Wasim Khan (sarangi). This will be followed by another vocal performance by Madhura Nawghare, accompanied by Rohidas Parab (tabla), Utkarsha Fondekar (harmonium), and Wasim Khan (sarangi).

The festival will conclude with a performance by Dr. Pradip Sarmokadam, accompanied by Amar Mopkar (tabla), Gopal Prabhu (harmonium), and Wasim Khan (sarangi).

The programme will be compered by Mansi Walve.
