36 Santa Cruz students awarded Vasantrao Dempo Scholarships

The 24th edition of the late Padmashree Vasantrao Dempo Scholarships was recently held at Dempo House, Panaji where 36 students from Santa Cruz were presented with scholarships.

Started in 2001-2002, the scholarships are awarded on merit, with exceptions made for financially needy students recommended by the village sarpanch. The awards cover students pursuing higher secondary education, graduate/postgraduate studies, and professional courses.

Santa Cruz Sarpanch Jenifer Oliveira was the chief guest. The event was attended by executive director, Dempo Industries Private Limited Pallavi Dempo; whole-time director, Dempo Shipbuilding & Engineering Services Yatish Dempo; managing director, Mormugao Shipping & Stevedoring Private Limited Uma Virgincar and panch member Amabelle Gomes.
