Margao

Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade recently handed over a school
bus to Popular High School in Margao.

“We received Rs 5 crore under MPLAD funds, and providing buses to schools has been one of my priorities. The Bal Rath buses have served for over 13 years, and while they’ve been helpful, many schools may find it difficult to replace them. Apart from this, I also have projects in other parts of the state, including providing hearse vans and other school-related facilities,” said Tanavade.

The event was held at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, with teachers, parents, and students in attendance.

Encouraging the school management to explore Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, he emphasised the importance of dedication in the education sector. “This school was established during Portuguese rule, and the dedication of its founders has allowed it to thrive. The success of a school is not just measured by results, but by discipline and values instilled in students. Quality education is the key, and it is essential that teachers, management, and parents work together,” he said. Tanavade also highlighted the collaborative role of teachers in shaping students’ futures. “The teacher is the greatest pillar in a student’s success. All stakeholders must work together to ensure the growth and development of the students,” he said.

Chairman of the Popular High School Trust, Avdhoot Parrikar, thanked Tanavade for the new bus, which would enhance student safety. He also shared that the first phase of the new school premises was nearing completion, with plans to launch later this year.
