After a report in The Navhind Times drew attention to the hazard posed by the unfinished construction of a sewage tank at Pontemol ward of the Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC), the contractor has drained the accumulated water and erected a temporary fence made of wooden planks around the tank.
The tank, left incomplete for nearly four months, had led to the accumulation of water around it, creating a pond-like condition. The stagnant water and exposed structure posed a risk to vehicle riders, children, and animals in the vicinity.
Residents had raised concerns about the safety hazard and had demanded strict action against the contractor responsible for the delay and negligence. The situation had also drawn attention after several complaints were made to local authorities.
Locals have called for permanent measures to be implemented promptly to complete the project.
