NT Reporter | Margao

For 27 young cancer survivors, the rhythmic sound of the train rolling down the Konkan coast was more than just a journey — it was a celebration of life and resilience.

Konkan Railway, in collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, turned the trip into an unforgettable experience, arranging a special journey for these children and their families to Goa for a three-day recreational and motivational visit.

The group, including parents and caretakers — 60 passengers in all — travelled from CSMT Mumbai to Margao on November 12 in a dedicated 3AC coach arranged for their comfort. When the train pulled into Madgaon railway station, they were greeted with smiles, cheers, and a warm welcome from Konkan Railway officials.

For the children, many of whom have spent long months in hospitals battling cancer, the trip offered a refreshing change — a chance to laugh freely, see the sea, and make new memories.

“The visit aims to bring joy, positivity, and a refreshing experience to the young survivors, reinforcing their spirit of hope and resilience,” Konkan Railway said in a statement, adding that

the initiative reflects its commitment to community welfare and meaningful social outreach.

The young travellers will head home on November 15.
