Government College Quepem, Chowgule College emerge joint powerlifting champions

Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem and Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao were declared joint winners of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Powerlifting (Men) Championship 2025–26, held at the Silver Jubilee Hall, Goa University campus.

Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna finished third in the team standings. Arif Karadi of Fr. Agnel College of Arts and Commerce, Pilar was adjudged the ‘Strongest Man’ of the championship after an outstanding performance in the 66 kg category.

In the individual events, Jesus Joseph (GC Quepem) won gold in the 59 kg class, while Arif Karadi dominated the 66 kg category. Devesh Gaonkar (GC Quepem) topped the 74 kg division, Risbern Fernandes (PCCE Verna) clinched gold in the 83 kg category, and Marc Souza (VM Salgaocar Law) emerged winner in the 93 kg class.

Astle D’Souza (GR Kare Law) secured the top spot in the 105 kg category, Pushpraj Naik (Parvatibai Chowgule College) won gold in the 120 kg division, while Melysunn Reevs of Parvatibai Chowgule College claimed first place in the above-120 kg category.

The presentation ceremony was graced by Manoj Hede, Govind Kare, along with Balachandra Jadar, who presented trophies and medals to the winners.
