Panaji : In a proud moment for Goa and Goans, the central government on the eve of Republic Day announced Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) to two Goans serving in the armed forces – Director General, Army Air Defence, Lieutenant General Sumer Ivan D’Cunha and Lt General Michael Anthony Jude Fernandez.
Lt Gen D’Cunha, a distinguished officer from Goa commissioned in 1988, holds a PhD in management and is recognised for his proficiency in missile systems and leading air defence units.
He played a very important role during the Operation Sindoor.
Lt Gen Michael Anthony Jude Fernandez has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) for his exemplary service to the Indian Army.
His distinguished career and unwavering dedication bring immense pride to Goa and the nation.
The PVSM is the highest peacetime service medal in India, established in 1960 and awarded to personnel for exceptional, distinguished service.
