Desmon Pereira’s dismissal opens floodgates as Sporting Clube win 7-0
Mapusa: Sporting Clube de Goa cruised to a commanding 7-0 win over ten-man Bidesh XI Sports Club in the Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
Sporting Clube took the lead through an unfortunate own goal when Samuel Costa curled in a corner from the left, forcing Bidesh defender Lamjingba to turn the ball into his own net under pressure. Play had earlier been briefly halted in the 25th minute after a swarm of bees hovered near the Bidesh penalty area, leading to an unusual stoppage.
Bidesh’s task became harder before the break when Desmon Pereira was shown a straight red card for kicking Aaron Barreto off the ball. Sporting Clube capitalised soon after halftime, doubling their lead when Niraj Parekh delivered a measured cross from the left for Naocha Singh, who timed his run perfectly to head home at the far post. The floodgates then opened as Samuel Costa struck a low effort from the edge of the box, which took a deflection off a defender to make it 3-0. Naocha Singh added his second moments later, controlling Ivon Costa’s chipped pass over the defence before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.Sporting Clube continued to pile on the pressure, with Ivon Costa turning provider again by slipping a neat pass to Joyson Gauncar, who finished first time to extend the lead. Naocha Singh completed his hat-trick by heading in Letzamang Haokip’s long ball from the left.
In the closing stages, Sporting Clube wrapped up the win when Joyson Coutinho teed up Ivon Costa, who made no mistake in front of goal to seal a 7-0 win.
