The state government has appointed a team of secretaries to resolve inter-departmental issues and ensure the smooth functioning of the administration.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant made the announcement after chairing a meeting at Mantralaya on Friday with the Chief Secretary, secretaries, heads of departments and other senior officials to review preparations for the annual budget for the financial
year 2026-27.

“We held detailed deliberations on key priorities to ensure effective implementation, fiscal prudence, and accountable governance,” he said.

Sawant said that discussions were also held on the Union budget for the year 2026-27, which was presented in Parliament
on February 1.

The deliberations on the Union budget focused on how the state government can tap funds through centrally sponsored schemes and other initiatives announced by the Government
of India.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister chaired another meeting at Mantralaya to review progress and address key issues concerning forest rights claims filed under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act 2025. The meeting was attended by Minister Ramesh Tawadkar and senior government officials.

Sawant said that detailed discussions were held on the issuance of sanads under the FRA, matters related to Kumeri cultivation and forest rights, and scientific and transparent demarcation processes.

“Our approach remains clear, protect the rights of traditional forest dwellers, uphold the rule of law, and preserve Goa’s rich natural heritage for future generations, while being committed towards ensuring that legitimate forest rights claimants receive justice in a time-bound and transparent manner, while also safeguarding ecological balance and sustainable development,” he said.
