TOI defend inter-media cricket championship title

Panaji: Prasad Patil’s spell guided Times of India to a 10-wicket win over Navhind Publications in the final of the Inter-Media T10 Cricket Tournament at Panjim Gymkhana on Thursday.

Organised by Sports Journalists Association Goa (SJAG) in collaboration with Goa Cricket Association and Sports Authority of Goa.

Electing to bowl, TOI dismantled Navhind for 63 for 9 in 10 overs. Prasad returned extraordinary figures of 6 for 4. Sahir Nawab provided support with 2 for 8. Manish Parab top-scored with 34, while Joao Souza contributed 9.

The chase was swift and straightforward. Prasad (25*) and Akhil Pillai (22*) stitched an unbeaten opening partnership as ToI raced to 64 without loss in 6.4 overs to retain the title.

In the semifinals, Navhind defeated Prudent Media by 12 runs, while ToI overcame Goan Varta by 10 wickets.

Sahir Nawab was named Best Bowler, Manish Parab Best Batsman, and Prasad Patil claimed both Man of the Final and Man of the Series. Bhanudas Gawas won Best Fielder while Nandesh Kambli was honoured as Veteran Player.
