Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that former Chief Minister and former Union Defence Minister late Manohar Parrikar had always thought about the people, the state and the country.
Sawant was speaking after paying floral tributes to Parrikar at his memorial at Miramar beach in the presence of Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju and other dignitaries on the death anniversary of the former Chief Minister.
“Parrikar was the architect of modern Goa,” said Sawant, crediting his leadership for laying the foundation of the state’s infrastructure, innovative projects and governance reforms.
“Parrikar’s vision and simplicity continue to
inspire the present government in taking forward development initiatives,”
he said.
Raju also paid homage and highlighted Parrikar’s significant contribution at the national level, particularly during his tenure as Defence Minister.
“Parrikar played a key role in promoting inclusivity in the armed forces,” said the Governor.
