Sweden and Selwyn strike once each to beat Curtorim Gymkhana 2-1 in the final

Utorda: Mandopa SC came from behind to beat Curtorim Gymkhana 2-1 and clinch the Lourdes Festival Soccer Cup at SAG ground, Utorda, on Sunday.

Curtorim struck first in the 18th minute through Anselmo Fernandes, but Mandopa responded with composure as Sweden Costa levelled with a fine finish.

Mandopa took control after the break and completed the turnaround in the 65th minute when Selwyn Gomes found the winner, capping a dominant second-half display.

Ajay Gaude, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs and Executive Director of the Sports Authority of Goa, lauded the football culture in Salcette, describing inter-village tournaments as the “pulse and spirit of Goan football and community unity.”

Also present were GFA vice president Anthony Pago, Fr Arvino Fernandes, Ana Pereira and Egi Mascarenhas. Club president Trindade Fernandes welcomed the gathering, while Pascoal Vaz and Tony Vincent Fernandes coordinated the event. Saul Pereira was named Man of the Match.
