The Curchorem obscene videos case will now be probed by the crime branch, as the Goa police on Tuesday transferred all the three cases registered by the Curchorem police in connection with the matter to the Ribandar-based investigating agency.

One case against the accused Soham Naik (21) was registered based on a media report, while the two other FIRs were registered based on the complaints filed by two minor victims.

A senior police officer told The Navhind Times that the accused had sent obscene content to the victims on social media platform Snapchat, while in the other matter the accused allegedly abused her sexually.

Apart from relevant sections under BNS and the IT Act, the accused has also been booked under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act as also under the Goa Children’s Act.

The Curchorem police arrested the accused, who was remanded to four-day police custody. Now, the crime branch has taken Naik into its custody.

Deputy inspector-general (DIG) of police Varsha Sharma visited Curchorem police station on Tuesday morning to take stock of the situation.

Also present was South Goa SP Santosh Dessai.

Speaking to mediapersons, Dessai appealed to the victims to come forward and lodged complaints. He assured them of full safety.
