Veer, Shiven guide them to a 136-run victory over Salgaocar in final
Porvorim : Geno Sports Club clinched the Goa Premier Division League (One-Day) title with a commanding 136-run victory over Salgaocar Cricket Club in the final played under lights at Porvorim.
Batting first, Geno posted 331/10 riding on Veer Yadav’s 103 off 124 balls, well supported by Manthan Khutkar (58). The middle order accelerated the scoring with Kaushal Hattangadi contributing 41 off 28 balls.
For Salgaocar, Ruthvik Naik picked up three wickets, while Yash, Amulya, Gauresh and Tunish claimed one each.
In reply, Salgaocar were bowled out for 195 in 35.1 overs, never fully recovering despite a fighting 71 runs from Yash Kasvankar and 55 runs from Yogesh Kauthankar.
The duo added 92 runs for the fifth wicket, but the effort was not enough.
Leg-spinner Shiven Borkar turned the match decisively in Geno’s favour with a brilliant spell of 5 for 11 in 3.1 overs as Salgaocar were bowled out for 195 in 35.1 overs. Samarth Rane took two wickets, while Pundalik Naik and Nihal Surlakar picked up one each.
