Margao: Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, on Monday, said that a well-planned Tribal Vision Document 2037 is essential for the tribal community to effectively utilise the Rs 2,200 crore allocated under the Tribal Sub-Plan and various other state departments.
Tawadkar was speaking at an event organised by the Tribal Welfare Department and the Tribal Research Institute of Goa on the Tribal Vision Document at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
“Today’s programme was organised, firstly, to formulate a plan for observing Prerna Din on May 25, and secondly, to discuss the meticulous planning of the Tribal Vision Document. This planning aims to ensure the effective utilisation of the available Rs 2,200 crore, which includes Rs 1,400 crore from the Tribal Sub-Plan and an additional Rs 8,00 crore provisioned across various state government departments,” said Tawadkar.
The planning has shortlisted 11 key parameters, including health, education, infrastructure, livelihood mission, and tribal art and culture. Tawadkar said dedicated teams of officials will be formed for data collection and research.
“These teams will initially focus on the needs and visionary progress of the tribal community at the taluka level, with plans to expand for more comprehensive research and collaborative exercises,” he added.
A booklet summarising the key aspects of the Tribal Vision Document will be unveiled on May 25, coinciding with the tribal community’s observance of Prerna Din, said Tawadkar.
He said that a comprehensive roadmap for the document will be prepared within the next three months.
“If required,” he said, “we will engage private research agencies to assist in data filtering and the effective corroboration of information.”
He also said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has approved the utilisation of the services of 10 gazetted government officers from the ST community, who will contribute their expertise to preparing the document.
