Goa Revolution Day was observed at the historic Assolna residence of Dr Juliao Menezes.

Students, teachers and local leaders paid tribute to Dr Menezes and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia and recalled their contribution to Goa’s Liberation movement.

NSS units of Maria Bambina Higher Secondary School, students of Holy Cross School, Cavelossim and Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna, participated in the programme.

Menezes’ nephew, Ravi Menezes, briefed students, teachers and managers of educational institutions on the historical significance of Lohia’s stay at the house.

Students presented patriotic songs as a tribute to the freedom fighters.

Maria Bambina Higher Secondary School manager Sister Clotida Fernandes and teacher

Assolna sarpanch Isaca Fernandes, panchayat members, Assolna BMC chairman Frederick Borges and members of the Village Development Committee were also present.

Earlier in the day, Fernandes led villagers in paying floral tributes at Lohia Chowk in Assolna, along with members of the Biodiversity Management Committee and Village Development Committee.
