St Anthony’s Sports Club Marna-Siolim have become the first village football club in Goa to receive training compensation through the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Club Registration System (CRS), following Puyam Vicky Singh’s transfer to NorthEast United FC.

The club received `54,000, after the Goa Football Association introduced CRS registrations across its affiliated competitions. The system enables clubs involved in a player’s development to receive training compensation and solidarity payments when players move to professional clubs.

GFA president Caitano Fernandes said the payment recognised the role of grassroots clubs in developing footballers.

“Goa has always produced footballers of quality. What we needed was a system that ensured the clubs responsible for that development were properly recognised and rewarded,” Fernandes said. “The CRS has made that possible, and today’s outcome for St. Anthony’s Sports Club Marna-Siolim is a direct result of that commitment.”

John Pereira, GFA executive committee member and president of St Anthony’s Sports Club, welcomed the payment.

“St Anthony’s Sports Club Marna-Siolim is pleased to have received Rs 54,000 as training compensation following the transfer of our player to NorthEast United FC,” Pereira said.

“This is a significant encouragement for grassroots clubs like ours that invest in developing young footballers.”

The GFA has urged affiliated clubs to
register their players under the CRS and said it would provide assistance with the process.
