Benaulim: ABC Sports Club Arambol powered their way into the final of the 46th Cana Benaulim Soccer Championship with an 3-0 victory over a gritty Augustas SC Pomburpa in a thrilling second semifinal at the Panchayat ground, Benaulim.
The clash lived up to its billing as a fierce battle between two determined teams. Arambol, aiming to make a statement, showed attacking flair right from the start. After a lively and fast-paced first half, Pranesh drew first blood for Arambol just before the break, with a clinical strike that put his side ahead.
Pomburpa came out strong in the second half, pressing hard for an equaliser. Raju Padashi and Anford Fernandes orchestrated several build-ups, but the finishing touch was missing. Arambol’s backline, especially Sanford and Vivek, stayed resolute while goalkeeper Deitmar Fernandes pulled off crucial saves to preserve the lead.
The pressure shifted once more when Cupriano was brought down inside the box. The striker stepped up and converted the penalty with ease, doubling Arambol’s advantage.
Minutes later, it was Myson Britto’s turn to shine, as he too netted from the spot to seal the victory in the 53rd minute.
With Cupriano and Myson wreaking havoc upfront, and a rock-solid defence, Arambol now gear up for a high-stakes finale on Sunday, full of momentum and belief.
