The Department of Commerce of Dempo Charities Trust’s, Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College (Autonomous) in collaboration with the Centre for Equal Opportunities, organised a Community Outreach Workshop titled ‘Grains for Growth – Eat Smart, Stay Strong’ for the students of Classes 3 and 4 of the Government Primary School, Bambolim recently.

The workshop aimed to create awareness among young learners about the importance of grains, balanced nutrition, and healthy eating habits essential for overall growth and well-being. The initiative also emphasised the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 5: Gender Equality.

The interactive session comprised engaging presentations and poster-making activities, during which students were guided to create posters on pulses. Pulses were distributed among the students, while faculty members and students of Dempo College elaborated on their importance in daily nutrition. Through live demonstrations, the young learners were introduced to various types of pulses and educated about their nutritional value and role in maintaining a balanced and healthy diet.

The workshop was coordinated by assistant professors Trupti Chodankar, Felcy Coelho, Amit Naik, and Ekang Shirodkar.
