Mahendra Wani, Country Head â Business Segment at Siemens Ltd, has been elected chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Goa Council for 2026â27, while Prasad Sawant, CEO of Buoyancy Consultants and Engineering LLP, has been elected vice chairman for the same term.
The announcement was made at the CII Goa Annual Meeting 2026 held under the theme âCompetitive Industry, Confident India: Goaâs Roleâ.
Speaking after his election, Wani said that the council would work towards strengthening collaboration between industry, government and civil society. âThrough strategic partnerships with industry, government, and civil society, we aim to secure a future where Goa thrives as a dynamic and sustainable hub for business and community development,â he said.
The annual meeting also featured two business sessions focusing on developments in the manufacturing sector and the broader economic outlook.
The first session, titled âDefining the Next Phase of Manufacturing: From High Volume to High Valueâ, discussed the shift in the Indian manufacturing sector from volume-driven production to models focused on higher productivity, advanced technologies and specialised capabilities.
The second session examined the wider macroeconomic environment, including the impact of global uncertainties such as geopolitical tensions, inflation volatility and changes in global supply chains on Indiaâs economic prospects.
