In an age of fast production, identical products and instant shopping, there is something quietly special about an object that has been made by hand.
It is this spirit of creativity and craftsmanship that lies at the heart of ‘Craftworks’ which will return on September 26 and 27, 11 a.m. to 7 p .m. at the Art Gallery, Entertainment Society of Goa, Panaji.
Now in its sixth edition, ‘Craftworks’ was created with the idea of providing a dedicated space for makers — particularly small and independent creators whose work may otherwise be discovered only through social media, word of mouth or occasional exhibitions.
And the upcoming two-day curated handmade market will bring together more than 25 makers, bakers, artists and independent creators, offering visitors an opportunity to discover an unusually varied collection of work created largely by hand. Visitors will find jewellery, crochet and macramé, ceramics, hand-painted pieces, embroidered creations, fabric products, toys, bags and pouches, candles, home décor, plants and miniature gardens, handcrafted accessories and gifts, creative products for children and adults, and a variety of other unusual finds. Home bakers and small food businesses will add another dimension to the market.
