The Heart of a Jogan band will stage ‘Anubhooti’, a two-hour live musical programme, on July 17, 6 p.m. at the Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy, Panaji.
The event is organised by Anantasya Foundation and Ethernet Xpress Foundation. Anantasya Foundation works in the fields of music, art, yoga, culture, ancient knowledge and history, while Ethernet Xpress Foundation is the CSR arm of Ethernet Xpress.
The programme will be the band’s third presentation and its first for the general public, following two earlier editions for college students and invited audiences.
Speaking at the press conference, lead vocalist Tanvi Walawalkar said she took up music as a hobby and performed at a few shows before creating ‘Anubhooti’, which was inspired by her spiritual awakening in 2020. She said, “This is my way of sharing what I have experienced and learned. It is not a meditation session but a musical performance that allows people to experience that feeling.”
The programme is open to everyone, irrespective of their spiritual or religious background. Walawalkar said, “There are no rules about who can attend. You don’t have to follow any particular practice or dress in a certain way. You can come as
you are.” She added that in the earlier editions, some who were initially hesitant to attend stayed until the end of the programme, while children also responded positively.
The programme will present ancient mantras through electronic, ambient and world music, with lead and chorus vocals accompanied by flute, tabla, pakhawaj, drums, keyboard, electric and bass guitars. Lyrics will be displayed during the performance.
Drummer Prathamesh Chari said the programme draws from both Indian classical and Western musical traditions. “We respect both traditions while presenting them in a contemporary format,” he said.
The programme will be led by Walawalkar and include lead vocalist Omkar Naik, keyboardist and arranger Vishnu Shirodkar, Chari, flautist Sonik Velingkar, tabla and pakhawaj player Surjeet Thali, electric guitarist Rohan Naik, bass guitarist Froebel Rebello, taal player Shreed Walawalkar, vocalists Sonali Rivoncar, Anudnya Pai Vernekar, Nidhi Bhat, Rajeshri Nair, Trayee Walawalkar, Vidhya Shirodkar and Varada Shirodkar, shankh player Vedant Shirodkar, and compere Priyanka Row.
