After the impressive ‘Amontronn’ (Invitation), Rosario de Benaulim returns with his new tiatr ‘Dobazo’ (The Celebration).
The play opens with Monica awaiting her husband with a bouquet. After the song and dance, enters Simao the servant of her husband, with a message that the spouse is busy. Angered, Monica flings the flowers at the servant.
The next act happens at a bar. Chris is the entertainer and the audience are singing and dancing to his music. After the show is over, Chris gets drunk to overcome the sadness in his heart. He is the son of Monica and her husband, Fonseca. The parents are separated and the Chris is unable to cope with this. As he is chatting with Simao, a Christian brother joins the conversation and tries to convince Chris of the love of Jesus and forgiveness. Chris is impressed and tries to bring his parents together. But will he succeed? Will his audience at the bar, accept his new songs. Watch what happens later, as the story moves on to the climax, that has a wonderful message of the love of God and how he helps those who believe in His Son.
This is a fine script by Rosario and has been directed well. It is presented with good sets, great music, songs, and fine acting from the cast. Sanyo gives light effects to some good sets by Anthony de Ambajim. Jerson provides the additional sound. There is Antonette de Maina, as Monica. She acts well as the wife and mother who cares. Tari is impressive as Fonseca, the husband who is busy with his riches. Elvis does a fine role as Chris and Willie does justice in a different role, of the old servant, Simao. Rosario is convincing as the brother, who tries to help. Simran and Shanice Vas are friends, who care for Elvis, Anthony Caiado is the auctioneer, and Peter de Arambol is the painter. Samuel Fernandes, Cyjoy d’Costa and Fredrick Dias play important roles. Princy, Neto, Joyel, Riston, and Agnelo provide the comedy.
The band has veteran Theo Alvares and Selwyn Braganza who are superb on the trumpets. Jack Rebello packs punch in his drumming, in a soft and stylish way. Myrus is good on bass and Elroy on the keyboard, supports well. The band provide some great music. There are songs from Elvis, Simran, Shanice, Deepika, Antonette, Caiado, Rosario, Peter de Arambol, Francis de Tuem, and others. Go watch this show, and understand the beautiful message about the love our God has for us.
