A keen observer of life, Dr. Shilpa Zantye has been noting how today’s youngsters especially are confronted with a lot of mental issues, be it anxiety or depression, with suicidal tendencies on the rise. Besides this, she has noted that couples too, face a lot of issues leading to family conflicts and even divorce. Troubled by all of this, the gynaecologist turned to her passion for writing in an effort to bring about a small change.
“All these issues start in the mind. If we can change the thoughts of these future pillars of our nation to a more positive outlook, we will have a better society,” she believes. And with that aim, Zantye has published a new poetry book ‘The Garland of Words’, a small book of 26 colourful poems adorned with lots of pictures to make it attractive and easy to understand for young children.
“I have read many self help and spiritual books. In addition, my career of over 25 years has brought me in touch with a lot of people. I have poured all this into my poems for the benefit of society at large with the soul intention to develop a beautiful and positive mindset,” she says.
She adds that to write anything, you first have to read a lot, understand it yourself, think it over and then express it in a simple and easy way so that others understand it easily. “I spend time rhyming words so that it is more soothing to the ears when a poem is recited,” she says, adding that literature provides her a beautiful outlet from her stressful career. “I have always enjoyed writing articles and poems on various subjects. Although I took a break owing to my career and family responsibilities, with my son now grown up, I decided to turn back to penning my thoughts again,” she says.
The book can be purchased from the writer herself who is all set to publish another book of poetry shortly. “Titled ‘Pearls of Wisdom’, this will be another small book of 26 poems with lots of morals values and
teaching,” she says.
