On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Goa Music Collections organised a mass prayer for peace in the Gulf Region recently at Municipality Hall, Pongriwal, Pontemol, Curchorem. The event witnessed participation of people of all religions, reflecting the spirit of unity, peace, and communal harmony.
The event was graced by Curchorem MLA and former PWD minister Nilesh Cabral as the chief guest, while chairperson of Cacora-Curchorem Municipality Pramod Naik was the guest of honour. President of Jamaat-e-Islami Unit, Curchorem, Iqbal Shaikh, Sadiq Shaikh, and B.K. Kaustub Kamat were the special invitees.
Addressing the gathering, Cabral encouraged the youth to adopt spiritual values and follow teachings that promote a balanced and holistic lifestyle.
Shaikh emphasised that Eid-ul-Fitr is a sacred festival that conveys the message of universal brotherhood, equality, and unity among all sections of society.
A special mass prayer commentary for peace in the Gulf region was conducted by B.K. Sheetal.
Chief co-ordinator of Goa Music Collections Viraj Wadekar proposed an initiative to develop Curchorem as the spiritual capital of Goa, suggesting the organisation of a three-day interfaith conference of religious leaders at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem, in the month of August. On this occasion, various cultural activities including drawing and dance competition, and musical concert ‘Eid-e-Mehfil’ were also organised.
