Musician and Hindustani classical music teacher Rameshwar Naik has released his debut Konkani single, ‘Hey Mogaa’, a romantic song that he believes will resonate with listeners across all age groups. The song was released on February 14, Valentine’s Day.

Naik, who teaches private classes in Hindustani classical music and bhajans, has been passionate about music since childhood. “I was introduced to bhajans at temples, and that’s where my love for music began,” he shares. During his school days, he would attend and perform bhajans across Goa and its borders. His formal journey in music took shape when he joined the Goa College of Music, where he first began composing ‘Hey Mogaa’ while practicing classical music with friends.

“It’s a couple’s song—one where a guy visualises his beloved. I had written a few lines in college, and over time, I refined and completed it,”
he explains.

The release of ‘Hey Mogaa’ which is both composed and written by Naik, was made possible with the support of producer and director Sneha Rohidas Lotlikar. “Everyone needs a push, and she believed in me, encouraged me, and helped bring this song to life,” says Naik. The song was recorded at Shivatva Studio, owned by Shiv Naik.

The music video was a collaborative effort, with cinematography by 7Seastudios Photography & Films and co-actress Sevika Naik featuring alongside him. It has been done by RN Creations in partnership with The Cake Bar
by Sneha.

While this marks Naik’s first romantic release on YouTube, he has previously recorded ghumot aartis on CD. Looking ahead, he is working on more devotional compositions.
