Vishesh Nasnodkar and Richard Cardoz net one each in their first win of 2025
Mapusa: Calangute Association clinched three points after a 2-1 win over Guardian Angel SC in the Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium on Sunday.
Calangute opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a well-executed one-two between Vishesh and Pandurang, allowing Vishesh to slot the ball into the bottom right corner.
The lead was doubled in the 69th minute when substitute Richard Cardoz received a pass from Jovito Fernandes, beat his marker, and fired a low drive into the far corner.
Guardian Angel found a lifeline through a Clifton Rebello cross that deflected off Calangute defender Melvin Lobo into the net, but Calangute held firm to secure the 2-1 victory.
Calangute’s Jovito Dias capitalized on a turnover, dispossessing Guardian Angel’s Fedrich before threading a pass to Kenrick Menezes. Kenrick surged toward goal and unleashed a low shot, but Guardian Angel’s goalkeeper Oswin produced a sharp save to deny the effort. The rebound fell invitingly to Jovito, but Oswin was quick to recover, executing a sliding tackle to neutralize the danger.
