Female Affairs, an international contemporary classical music initiative dedicated to showcasing women composers, will make its India premiere in Goa this December in collaboration with the Goa Chitra Museum. The concert on December 16, is the outcome of a two-year artistic partnership between Meta Arts (India) and PART
Ensemble (Germany).

Launched in 2023, Female Affairs commissions and presents new works by women in contemporary classical music. Its first edition was supported by the Goethe-Institut’s International Co-Production Fund, while the 2025 edition is backed by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia, Ensemble PART, the Embassy of Spain in India, Goa Chitra Museum
and Meta Arts.

For this edition, the project has collaborated with Spanish composer Helena Cánovas to create new compositions, which will be performed by PART Ensemble, known for its experimental, interdisciplinary approach. Goa is the first stop on the ensemble’s India tour, which will continue to Jaipur and Kolkata.

PART Ensemble (Germany) includes organist Matthias Geuting, flutist Evelin Degen, violist Alba González Becerra and multimedia artist Varun Desai, who works with electronics and real-time visuals. The ensemble brings international experience across contemporary performance and
experimental music.

In Goa, the project will include an artist residency and a public lecture at 6 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m. on
December 16. The residency encourages collaboration between the ensemble and local artists. Goa-based composer and singer-songwriter Valerie D’Silva will also contribute a special artistic response to the talks
and concert.

(The concert is open to all;
seats are limited. The ticket
will also include a guided tour
of the three museums.)
