Margao : The Chinchinim-Deussua panchayat has launched a proactive initiative to report water leakages as part of its efforts to promote water conservation and reduce wastage.

Speaking to the reporters, sarpanch Frank Viegas said that on the occasion of World Water Day, the panchayat introduced the initiative to involve the local community in identifying and reporting water leakages to their respective ward members. The aim is to ensure timely repairs and prevent the loss of water.

Viegas said that all reported cases would be systematically addressed by the panchayat in co-ordination with the Public Works Department (Water Supply).

The sarpanch, along with panchayat members, said that the community participation in water conservation is very important.

“Every drop counts. The climate crisis is a water crisis. Let’s save water,” Viegas said.

“By acting together and addressing leakages promptly, we can save tonnes of water and contribute to a sustainable future for our village,” he added.
