The Department of English at Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Margao, recently attended the 25th Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai.

Sixteen English Major students, including two MA students, and two professors, assistant professors Loretta Rodrigues and assistant professors Andrew Barreto, participated in five days of the nine-day festival, attending literary sessions, workshops, and more.

The group attended over 20 sessions, meeting festival curators Pervin Saket and Anil Menon at the David Sassoon Library. They also met festival director Brinda Miller and had the chance to attend exclusive sessions due to the festival’s silver jubilee anniversary.

A major highlight was an intimate Parsi food discussion with actor Boman Irani, Cyrus Broacha, and chef Cyrus Todiwala, hosted by Kunal Vijaykar at The Taj Mahal Palace. The students also interacted with actor Taha Shah Badushha and mythologist Devdutt Patnaik, and attended sessions on modern queer narratives with Raj Rao, Santa Khurai, and Harish Iyer.

The group watched three plays, ‘Something Like That’, ‘Peace Projects’, ‘Piyakkad’, and ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’, and attended a stand-up comedy performance. Other activities included ‘mithai’-making at Bombay Sweet Shop, food trails, a writing workshop, and a concert by Sachin-Jigar.
