Cuncolim Union see off Curtorim

Cuncolim Union entered the quarterfinal after a 2-0 win over Curtorim Gymkhana in the Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup at the Fr Druston and Wellington Ground, Cavelossim, on Wednesday.

Cuncolim’s breakthrough came courtesy of Vinod Velip, who buried a thunderous right-footed strike into the bottom corner after a sharp exchange with Melwin Mascarenhas to put Cuncolim ahead 1-0.

As Curtorim pushed forward in search of an equalizer, Cuncolim struck on the counter. Wilson Fernandes timed his run to perfection, broke the offside trap, and coolly slotted home to seal a deserved 2-0 win and secure a spot in the last eight.

Vinod Velip was awarded the Man of the Match by Fr Ubaldo Fernandes in the presence of Viriato Mendes.
