Deepvihar HSS launches Consumer Welfare Club

Deepvihar Higher Secondary School, Mormugao launched its Consumer Welfare Club (CWC) to promote awareness about consumer rights and responsibilities under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

Speaking on the occasion, Coordinator of GOACAN and member of the Goa State Consumer Protection Council, Roland Martins said CWCs are effective platforms to educate students on consumer issues.

School manager Sanjay S. Banaulikar welcomed the initiative, saying it would benefit both students and the wider community. The launch followed an orientation session by GOACAN for staff.
She encouraged students to actively participate in CWC activities in the upcoming academic year, of which teachers Nandkumar Satardekar and Nidhi Sherlekar were appointed as coordinators. The club will receive financial support from the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.GOACAN also distributed awareness material on road safety, vector-borne diseases, waste management, and consumer rights to support the club’s activities.

Principal Maria Petornila Ivana Godinho Dias was also present.
