Sesa FA and CD Salgaocar play out a goalless draw at Duler Stadium
Nagoa: Dempo SC clinched a narrow 2-1 win over Cortalim Villagers in the Goa Professional League Super League at Nagoa ground on Monday.
With the win, Dempo SC now have 32 points from 15 matches, narrowing the gap to table-toppers Sporting Clube, who have 35 points from 14 matches. Cortalim Villagers are in the seventh position with 20 points from 14 matches.
In another match, Sesa FA and CD Salgaocar played out a goalless draw at Duler Stadium.
Dempo SC struck first in the 27th minute when Beckham Dias sliced through Cortalim’s defense with a precise through ball only to find Velanco Rodrigues, who squared it for Salgeo Dias to fire home with a low finish.
Cortalim hit back early in the second half after Ronil Vaz’s pinpoint free-kick found Velroy Carvalho, who nodded it down for Jaison Vaz to smash in a brilliant first-time half-volley.
Dempo sealed the win in the dying moments after Sairon Albuquerque’s header struck a defender’s hand, earning a penalty, which he calmly converted to secure a 2-1 victory.
