Boito, a luxury brand focused on preserving and reimagining Odisha’s textile traditions, is hosting a pop-up exhibition at Whalesong Gallery, Parra.

The collection is inspired by Odisha’s vibrant culture, where mythology, rituals, and nature come together. Each piece blends the region’s textile history with modern high-fashion, featuring outerwear like trench coats, jackets, and kimonos that highlight the intricate designs. Along with clothing, the exhibition also displays accessories and gifts showcasing Odisha’s skilled craftsmanship.

The textiles in this collection come from various traditional crafts of Odisha. Bomkai is known for its detailed designs woven using special techniques. Dhokra is an ancient metal craft made with the lost-wax casting method. Kapdaganda shawls, embroidered by the Dongria Kondh community, show their respect for nature and the sacred Niyamgiri mountains. Khandua is an ikat fabric with complex patterns and a unique dyeing process. Kotpad textiles, dyed with natural colours from the aal tree, feature shades of red, maroon, and brown. Pipli’s colourful appliqué work shows Odisha’s love for bright colours, while Ringa, woven from jungle fibres, is worn by the Bonda community. Finally, Sambalpuri textiles are made using a double ikat technique, with motifs inspired by ancient stories and symbols of prosperity.

(The exhibition is open every day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. until January 5.)
