The fast growth of artificial intelligence (AI) has raised important questions about its role in today’s world. At Samriddhi 2024, the annual international business symposium organised by the Goa Institute of Management (GIM) in Sanquelim, experts highlighted the need to see AI as a partner rather than a rival.

“Make AI your companion, not your competition,” said Chief Strategy Officer at Centific AI, a Hyderabad-based global tech company, Dr. Dinesh Chandrasekhar. He explained how AI, when paired with human creativity, can greatly increase productivity and innovation.

This year’s symposium, themed ‘Spectra: Redefining Business Landscapes’ brought together over 3,000 students from top business schools across India. The event included seven competitions, offering prizes worth Rs. 4.6 lakhs, and featured a special case study challenge for undergraduates.

GIM director Ajit Parulekar praised the event, saying, “Samriddhi reflects our commitment to encouraging learning through innovation and collaboration. The energy and ideas shared here show how much can be achieved when we combine knowledge with real-world experience.”

The discussions focused on topics such as agile leadership, changing business trends, the future of work, balancing profit with purpose, and the decentralisation of the internet. Beyond competitions, the event also included a financial decision-making workshop by CA Shivam Palan, founder of CA Monk, a platform that helps finance professionals improve their skills.

One of the keynote speakers, founder and CSO at Brand Architects, Aradhika Mehta spoke about the importance of sustainability in business. “Sustainability isn’t just about profit or climate—it’s about balancing social, cultural, and economic goals,” she said, encouraging businesses to focus on long-term growth.

The event also featured a panel discussion on ‘Changing Workplace Dynamics and Human-AI Collaboration’, with experts like Biswapriya Bhattarjee, director of Kantar and Alok Tiwari, associate professor of Big Data Analysis at GIM. On day 2, Chandrasekhar also shared insights on how AI can transform workplaces.

In addition, founder and CEO of Samvedanam, Abhishek Chahan, led a fireside chat on ‘Agile Leadership in Changing Times’, offering valuable advice on leadership in today’s fast-changing business
environment.
