Panaji: Minister for Women and Child Development Vishwajit Rane has said that by helping identify 701 malnourished children across Goa, Poshan Tracker has ensured that every such child in the state received targeted and closely monitored interventions.

Poshan Tracker is a mobile application of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, acting as a digital platform to monitor and manage nutrition services for mothers and children.

Children aged six months to three years have received energy-dense, fortified food from anganwadis, while customised hot cooked meals with weekly menus have been provided to children aged 3 to 6 years, ensuring nutrition, Rane said.

Real-time tracking of every SAM (severe acute malnutrition) and MAM (moderate acute malnutrition) child, daily diet monitoring, anganwadi and home visits, medical referrals, and Mother & Child Committees at every anganwadi centre, along with initiatives like Poshan Maah, Poshan Pakhwada, Nutri Gardens, and daily physical activity for children have strengthened the outcomes in Goa, said officials from the Women and Child Development Ministry.

The officials said that sustained efforts have kept SAM, MAM and underweight ratios in Goa below the national average, with a steady decline in stunting and wasting.

With on-ground action and measurable outcomes, Goa is setting a benchmark in child nutrition and ensuring that no child is left behind, they said.

Goa’s work has been acknowledged at the Western Zonal Council meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and nationally recognised with the Gold SKOCH Award 2025 for improving childhood nutrition through anganwadis, the officials said.
