The Crime Branch arrested Federico Moreno (41), a Philippine national, and her aide Vinit Bandiwdekar in connection with a fake Indian passport case.

Police said that Moreno allegedly obtained an Indian passport in a false name by furnishing false information. “The accused used forged documents to obtain the Indian passport from the passport office at Goa in the name of Ms Erica Achumi,” said Crime Branch Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta, adding that Moreno was working as a hair stylist at a salon in Porvorim.

“Bandiwdekar allegedly assisted the Philippine national in obtaining an Aadhaar card and other documents for securing the Indian passport,” said Gupta.

Police said an FIR was registered based on a
complaint filed by the Regional Passport Officer, Panaji, and that the accused persons were arrested on January 7.

Gupta said, “The investigation revealed that Moreno had stayed in Goa without a valid visa or permission from the competent authorities.”

Gupta said that during interrogation, Moreno disclosed Bandiwdekar’s involvement, who allegedly assisted in obtaining the Aadhaar card and other documents for securing the Indian passport.
