Panaji: In a late night raid, the anti-narcotic cell of the Goa police arrested Rahul Uppaldinni, a 33-year-old delivery man of an online food ordering and supply company, at Upasnagar, Sancoale with 226 grams of ganja.
ANC officials got a tip-off on ganja being supplied in disguise of food deliveries especially to the youth. Accordingly, ANC sleuths maintained a strict vigil through technical and human intelligence and nabbed the accused at Upasnagar at Sancoale late Saturday night, the police said.
Uppaldinni, a resident of Vaddem in Vasco, who works as a food delivery agent, used his position to easily supply ganja especially at placed frequented by the youth, the police said.
The ANC sleuths laid a trap and arrested the accused with 226 grams of ganja worth Rs 22,600.
The police attached a scooter and a mobile phone, which were used by the accused to facilitate his drug trade.
Uppaldinni was produced before the magistrate and remanded to five-day police custody.
The raid was conducted by a team led by police inspector Sajith Pillai, under the supervision of deputy superintendent of police Nerlon Albuquerque. The raid was closely monitored by superintendent of police (ANC) Sunita Sawant.
