Fr Agnel’s Pilar, St Anthony’s Duler clinch U-14 hockey titles

Fr Agnel’s High School, Pilar, and St Anthony’s High School, Duler, emerged champions in the boys and girls categories respectively at the 2nd all-Goa U-14 six-a-side hockey tournament organised by Goa Mavericks Sports Club, , in association with Wellesley Partners, at Peddem.

In the boys final, Fr Agnel’s HS, Pilar, defeated Janata HS, Mapusa, in a competitive encounter to claim the title. St Anthony’s HS, Duler, showed dominance in the girls event, securing a well-fought win over Govt HS, Honda.

The tournament witnessed participation from five boys’ teams and nine girls’ teams, making it a vibrant celebration of grassroots hockey.

Bishal Nayak of Fr Agnel’s HS, Pilar, was the standout performer in the boys section, bagging the Best Player and Highest Scorer awards. Janata HS goalkeeper Hassan Khan was named Best Goalkeeper for his fearless efforts under the post.

In the girls’ section, Hansika Chikke of St Anthony’s HS, Duler, clinched both the Best Player and Top Scorer awards, while her teammate Sonakshi Jha was adjudged Best Goalkeeper for her sharp reflexes and composure.

A special award for the Most Promising Young Player went to Aaradhya Nayak, also from St Anthony’s HS, Duler, for her energetic performance and future potential. Other players who impressed during the tournament included Remanta Pariyar (Janata HS), Chatali Chavan (St Anthony’s HS, Duler), and Jovita Cunha (Fr Agnel Central School, Pilar).

The winners were presented with trophies and medals by Sourabh Chattopadhyay.
