Fundação Oriente is all set to organise the eight edition of its short story competition.

Started in 2011, the competition aims to revive the storytelling tradition by fostering original writing and supporting the cultural and linguistic diversity of Goa. The competition is open to both amateur and professional writers in the age group of 18 years and above and who reside
in Goa.

The stories can be written in Konkani (Devnagiri/Romi), Marathi, Portuguese, and English.

With the goal of helping upcoming participants to improve their writing skills and be able to successfully craft a short story, Fundação Oriente will organise a creative writing workshop. After the selection of participants, the workshop will be held between June 27 and 29, 2025.

Entries for the competition will be accepted between August 1 and 30, 2025. A list of shortlisted stories will be announced on November 30, 2025 and the winners will declared at a function to be held on December 4, 2025. The winning and shortlisted stories will be translated into English and published in the anthology ‘Short Stories from Goa’ in 2026.

The regulations and registration form is available on request by email or at the institute premises in Fontainhas, Panaji
