Goa secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Mizoram in the 32nd National Games Football Tournament in Uttarakhand.
The match saw Goa make a solid comeback after a tough start to the tournament, with goals from Faheez Mohammad and Clencio Pinto securing all three points. The win moved Goa into second place in Group A, with three points from two matches, while Mizoram, who struggled throughout, remain at the bottom of the
group.
Mizoram were unable to capitalize on early opportunities despite playing aggressively, as they faced a disciplined Goa defense. The hosts remained solid throughout, frustrating their opponents and keeping them at bay.
Goa’s breakthrough came just before the break when Faheez Mohammad opened the scoring in the 45th minute. In the second half, Mizoram’s frustrations mounted, and Goa made sure of the result when Clencio Pinto converted a penalty in the 61st minute and sealed them three points.
