Goa’s U-17 girls suffered their second straight loss at the Dream Sports Championship Football 2025 National Finals, going down 1-2 to Assam in a closely contested morning clash at the SAG Ground.
After a 2-6 defeat to Jharkhand in their opening game, the hosts were hoping to bounce back, and things looked promising when Pearl Fernandes put Goa ahead in the 39th minute with a well-taken goal. But Assam turned the game around after the break. Karina Narah levelled the scores in the 54th minute, and Rupi Barla, the Assam captain, netted the winner in the 71st minute to seal the comeback.
Earlier in the morning, Jharkhand continued their dominant run, securing a 3-0 win over Karnataka. Anamika Sanga gave them a dream start with an 8th-minute goal. In the second half, Sanjna Oraon (75’) and Rashmi Minz (90’) added their names to the scoresheet to maintain Jharkhand’s perfect record in the tournament.
