The 14-day budget session of the Goa Legislative Assembly will be held from March 6 to 27. During the session, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will present the annual budget for the financial year 2026-27.

Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Wednesday summoned the Assembly to convene at 11.30 am on March 6.

The session is expected to witness discussions on the state’s financial proposals, policies and development priorities, along with debates on various legislative matters. Though the business of the session is yet to be finalised by the Business Advisory Committee, it is expected that after the presentation of the budget by Sawant, who holds the finance portfolio, the Assembly will pass the budget following
discussion.

The winter session was held from January 12 to 16.

With a growing number of issues emerging across the state, people have taken to the streets over concerns related to mega projects and government projects in their villages, citing fears of ecological and environmental damage. There has also been public anger against the government over alleged imposition of projects, illegal hill cutting and large-scale land conversions.

The ‘Enough is Enough’ movement against land conversions and illegal hill cutting, launched by former Chief Justice Ferdino Rebello, has given momentum to opposition parties to target the government.
