Panaji: Goa police have suspended two constables, Omkar Jadhav and Mayur Naik, for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman near a pub in Patto, Panaji, on Wednesday night.

A show-cause notice has been issued to a third police constable, who accompanied them.

Panaji police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Jadhav and Naik based on a complaint filed by the woman. The incident occurred at 9.40 pm near the entrance of the pub.

Police said the complainant alleged that the two accused, with common intention, touched her inappropriately and used abusive language.

Both constables were posted at the North Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) office. Upon receiving information, SP North Goa, Rahul Gupta ordered their suspension. “Such behaviour is unacceptable as part of a disciplined police force. Strict disciplinary action will follow,” said Gupta.

The FIR has been registered under Sections 74, 79, 118, 352 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
