Goa is set to expand its artificial intelligence-based traffic enforcement network, with 701 additional AI cameras proposed to be put up at 68 locations in the next phase. This will take the technology-driven enforcement system well beyond the 348 cameras already installed at 26 locations.
Between four to 15 cameras will be installed at each site. The highest deployment of 15 cameras each has been proposed to be put up at Nagoa Junction and Alto-Betim-Porvorim.
Locations with 14 cameras each are O’Coqueiro Circle, MES Junction, and Valles Junction, Dabolim. The 12-camera locations are Court Junction, Pernem Bazaar, Kasrawada Junction, Sateri Nagara Colony, Nerul, Nerul-Candolim Road, Candolim Market, St Anthony Chapel, Calangute Junction, Noronha’s Corner, Holy Cross Chapel, Starco Junction, Mapusa-Anjuna Junction, Assagao Junction, St Anthony Church, Saligao Junction, Tisk Junction, Holy Family Church, Porvorim, Kohinoor Junction-Pedestrian Signal, Mardol-Priol Four Roads Junction and Bethoda Junction.
Mini Satellite Township, Sai Service, Mangeshi Junction and Dobolim Junction will get 11 cameras each, while Training College Bus Stop, Teen Building and Betim-Pomburpa Road will have 10 each.
The remaining sites with nine cameras each are Gandhi Circle, Bank of Goa Circle, Main Circle, Canca, Malem Circle, Reis Magos, Marra Junction, Candolim Junction, Candolim Beach Road, Dr Jack Sequeira Junction, Calangute Market Junction, Baga Junction, Aguada-Siolim Road, Arpora Junction, Marinha Dourada Road, Siolim Bus Stand, Chopdem Circle, Askawada Junction, Querim-Arambol Road, Madhalawada Bus Stand, village panchayat, Dolphin Circle, The Red Tower, Jacknim Junction, Mapusa Cross, Kamat Nagar (Novert Junction), Puja Clinic, Y Junction MRF Unit-Tisk Usgao, Pansulem Junction, Khandola College Junction and Queeny Nagar Junction.
Martyr Circle and INS Hansa Junction, Dabolim will get eight each, while SBI Margao-Pedestrian Signal and Marliz Cafe-Pedestrian Signal will have four each.
At present, AI cameras are operational at 26 locations, where the system has detected 10,41,958 violations, resulting in 5,684 e-challans and 81 notices, according to Transport Department data.
